Autumnal Equinox 2025

On behalf of the Sovereign Grand Sanctuary of Ionian, we extend our greetings and blessings to all Brethren, and to all Humanity, on this Autumnal Equinox.
In our Tradition we understand that the descent into death does not begin today, but already at the Summer Solstice, when the Sun, having reached its height, begins its slow decline. The Winter Solstice will mark the mystery of renewal, the moment when, from the darkest night, the new Light is born.
The Equinoxes stand between these poles. They are moments of fragile balance:
• The Autumnal Equinox is the last breath of harmony before the full descent into darkness, as Osiris passes into the underworld.
• The Vernal Equinox is the last pause before the great outpouring of Light, as Horus rises victorious.
This cycle is not only in Nature but also in us. The Soul, like the Earth, must pass through these rhythms of growth, decline, silence, and rebirth. The Autumn invites us to let go, to turn inward, and to reflect in the hidden chamber of our being. Here, the formula of V.I.T.R.I.O.L. reminds us: “Visit the interior of the earth, and by rectifying, discover the hidden Stone.”
The descent is not an end but a passage. Just as the fields must rest for seeds to germinate, so the soul must pass through shadow to prepare for new life. In the fragments of Osiris lies the promise of Horus. In the silence of the Equinox lies the strength of renewal.
